The III International Meeting of Contemporary Piano will be held from December 10 to 12, 2018 at Évora University School of Arts (Portugal) in partnership with the Graduate Program in Music of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Brazil). Created in 2016, the purpose of this meeting is to promote sharing, fraternising and debate on research and artistic activities related to Contemporary Music for Piano.
The theme for the third edition is The influence of Olivier Messiaen on piano music of our time. As well as paying tribute to the French composer on the 110th anniversary of his birth, we hope to create a space for discussion about current performance practices, techniques and repertoires, taking as reference Messiaen’s pianistic production and its repercussion in the music of the second half of the 20th century. Guest lectures and performers include Sara Davis Buechner of Temple University (Philadelphia, USA), and Anna Kijanowska of the University of Silesia (Ciezsyn, Poland).
